There are many places to sit and enjoy the surrounding area once into the trails.b I'm not sure of the overall distance but they seem to be designed mostly in a circular pattern. It would be hard to get lost. There is a stream running through the area, some higher trails and some along the stream. Most trails are wide enough for a mountain bike. I think they're allowed anyway. Overall, a fun way to get out, hike but yet not be too far away from the lake areas.
We hike at James A. Reed Conservation Area quite frequently. Our dogs love it. We hike around the lakes and on the trail at Bodarc Lake. There us a loop trail with a chat surface. There are several dirt trails off the loop. One goes on the bluff over looking the creek, another one is at creek level. I've never had a bad walk/hike here. Very suitable for children.
Beautiful walk in a winter wonder land.
Good trail near Bodarc Lake. Up hill climb when you finish the loop back to the parking area though.
Great trails to burn a bunch of calories and take your dog as well. My blind dog Meeka and I love trails theres also some nice scenery
