Fantastic place to learn an important time in our history! The visit with my wife and daughter went really well - the host at the site was so informative and helpful. Would certainly recommend this to others! A truly good time had by all.

Lexington Missouri is the home to many Civil War historical events. The Battle of the Hemp Bales was fought here. The Anderson House is located on the same property in which this Battle was fought. It was strategic to the North and South as it served as a hospital for whichever side gained possession of it. Visitors can tour the Anderson House and also the museum which features a large diorama depicting the tragedies of this Battle.

This is a very peaceful place. Lots of places to walk around. There is the visitors center and then the memorial tombstones as well as the historic house. Not that busy when I went and it was a military holiday.

Great little Civil War battlefield. Can easily be explored in a couple hours and the museum is very nice too. Lexington might not be in the top ten most important Civil War battles but it's a good example of the kind of fighting going on in 1861.
