AJ’s Tex-Mex & BBQ

We have ordered their amazing tamales to take home an freeze for holidays or events. But this was the first time we dined in. We had the shrimp tacos, mushroom taco and a brisket taco with the sides of pinto beans and macaroni and cheese. They were nearly out of pinto beans(which the little serving container was nearly full still) but they said since it wasn’t a full order, they gave us the baked beans for free. The baked beans were some of the best I’d ever eaten!!! The food wasn’t very hot, I’m sure it was because they were nearly closing and they keep some of the sides in roasting appliances, which likely get turned off a bit before closing. Understandable. Anyway, these tacos are the kind you crave! I wanted more even two hours later, and the next day! We will absolutely be back!!!

I ate there three days in a row while buck hunting. I had the 3 meat sandwich w/ a side of green beans, a Texas tater with brisket, and the nachos with portobello mushroom fajitas. The 3 meat sandwich was great! Of the 3 meats (brisket, pulled pork, jalapeño-cheese sausage) the sausage was the standout. The Texas tater was soft and buttery before all the fixin's were puled on top so it was both delicious and plentiful. Even as a self avowed mushroom lover, I had reservations about whether or not mushrooms belong on nachos... they most certainly do. Great family place. AJ was present and quite personable. They smoke over mesquite and pecan wood. Very proper!

I had the pulled meat over Mac and cheese. Delicious. Wife had soft tacos with side salad and Mac and cheese sides. The side salad alone would have made a reasonable meal. Recommended

AJ's Tex-Mex has the best brisket, queso &chips, carne asada, turkey legs...I can go on and on! Staff are so friendly!! Just feels like home...Texas!!! From the great BBQ to the decor, to the music!!! Missouri is so incredibly lucky to have this gem!!

Came here in between baseball games during a memorial day tournament. Service was very fast and food was very good.
