Great hiking spot! Easy drive to get there from anywhere in Kansas City! No dog policy.
Easily one of our favorite places. Beautiful, well-kept trails, easy distance from parking, not too difficult for preschool feet. The different features (waterfall, bridge, etc) and varied wildlife make all seasons fun to explore.
Got kids entering 3rd through 5th grades? The City of Parkville hosts a day camp at the Nature Sanctuary and includes activities like netting water bugs in the stream and hiking the Sanctuary. I cannot recommend enough!
Well maintained and close to most people in the Northland. Easy hiking to bring kids along. Not stroller friendly but carriers made it really easy to navigate the whole area.
This is a great area to bring little kids. The trails are easy to travel, well maintained, and provide a lot of variety including a waterfall, a boardwalk, a butterfly trail, streams and more. We brought our 1year old and 3 year old and we all loved it. We'll be coming back. There is also a nice picnic spot. No restrooms--FYI.
Great, quiet place in the middle of town. It is amazing how quiet it is when you realize how close it is to MO 9 highway. There are a variety of habitats, thick woods, thin trees, marsh, meadow, water fall and creek. There is a great variety of animals if you are quiet and look. No dogs or bikes allowed. Some gravel paths, but mostly wood chips. Many areas are not handicapped accessible due to the natural terrain. Depending on mobility and assistive devices some areas may be reachable, not the waterfall. Suggest someone check it first based on your ability.
