Edward "Ted" and Pat Jones-Confluence Point State Park

A beautiful treasure near St Louis where Missouri River meets Mississippi River. The entry to confluence park is through a gravel off road. It’s amazing to see the waters merge. Loved being at this place. A must visit, want to go there again! Good for bird watching too!

It's finally open. I'm giving it a good rating because you have to realize it's been flooded and closed for the good part of two years. It's not in perfect shape, and whatever maintenance is put into it now could possibly be washed away by spring.

You need to drive 4.5 miles on a dirt-and-gravel road which begins near the Melvin Price locks. There are potholes, although most are avoidable. We saw 80-100 egrets and other birds in the ponds along the road. At the end of the road there is a restroom, an info kiosk, and plenty of parking space.

The walk to the rivers is only about a quarter-mile from the lot. There was not much mud when we were there, but that probably varies week to week. When you get to the rivers you will get a history lesson from the markers, and there are no picnic tables nor play area.

As mentioned in these comments, kids might not be impressed, so combine it with other destinations in the Alton area.
