(February 28, 2021, 9:19 am)I totally enjoyed my day at SLAM! Got there as soon as they opened and, with the exception of lunch, spent every minute until closing time browsing the works. The main exhibition (German art since 1800) alone was worth the trip, and not only it but the entire museum was free of charge! I particularly enjoyed the collection of Romantic paintings, the West African masks and other pieces, and the Egyptian sarcophagi and carvings. To be honest, I didn't even get to see everything, so I'm already planning a return trip :)
Do note that their food services are currently not operating, so bring a lunch if you don't want to leave the premises to eat. Enjoy your time at this excellent museum - I know I sure did! -

(February 28, 2021, 2:42 am)Absolute favorite place in St Louis, I specifically requested we drive 3 hours up here for my birthday so I could see the museum again. It's quiet and beautiful, plenty of seating when you just need to relax and enjoy the art, and filled with art history and masterpieces. It's completely free as well which is amazing. Expect to be there a while, it took me two days to see everything, and I skipped half the lower level.

(February 22, 2021, 8:03 pm)The Art Museum is one of my favorite places in all of St. Louis and I can't believe it is mostly free. The halls are grand and the paintings are historic. Yes there is always a pretty cool rotating paid exhibit, but there are always free rotating exhibits too so make sure to check online or at the guest services counter to see what's new.

(January 31, 2021, 12:31 pm)Beautiful museum with amazing artworks. The building itself is fascinating. Such a really gorgeous place that it's located in...a must see! Loved everything I saw inside. The employees were really friendly. A true jewel of Saint Louis. Also, it’s free!

(January 15, 2021, 1:58 pm)Great variety of art, from an Egyptian collection to contemporary. Best of all, it is located in the middle of beautiful Forest Park, overlooking the Grand Basin and its fountain. AND it is FREE! It's a perfect solo activity any day, especially during the pandemic, but also a great place to take a date or your family.
