Michael F. Burns, MD

Dr. Michael Burns was highly recommended to me by two of his patients. I was having knee pain from arthritis topped with a meniscus tare injury that wouldn’t get better. Dr Burns professionally gave me the options and I took his advice and am super glad I did. Arthritis cannot be fixed but the injury I had could. Knowing Dr Burns has an extensive history working with athletes and Olympian’s gave me the assurance he is a very good doctor. I put my trust in him and he proved to be an excellent surgeon. He is a true gentleman and treated me kindly. I would recommend Dr Burns to anyone who needs orthopedic care.

I was referred to Dr. Burns by my primary MD. I was not disappointed. I was extremely satisfied with my care and his bedside manner. He has a great sense of humor, but more important the final results of my double knee replacement was fantastic.

Dr. Burns was recommended to me by a friend who had a total knee replacement performed by him several years ago. I found Dr. Burns to be a compassionate, nice man with a great sense of humor. At my first appointment with Dr. Burns I was impressed that he didn't jump right to surgery as my only option and that the mode of treatment was my decision. I decided to start out with some of the least invasive options, like exercises and anti-inflammatories, realizing that I may be "kicking the can down the road" and would eventually need a TKR.
About a year later I made the decision to move forward with TKR. Had my surgery in March 2022 at Missouri Baptist Hospital. My care at MOBAP both pre- and post-op was excellent. I am extremely pleased with the care I received from Dr. Burns and his entire staff. (Special shout-out to Susan Fessler and Anna--thank you for taking such good care of me!) Six months after my surgery I went on vacation for 3 weeks hiking all around Utah and Arizona State and National Parks. Never could have done it without my new knee, which gave me no problems whatsoever!

I’ve been under the care of Dr. Burns for over 10 years, and have recommended him to my friends who suffer from knee pain.

For many years, I’ve had relentless knee pain, and several months ago I made the decision to have total knee replacement surgery. I knew Dr. Burns would take excellent care of me; he has always been very patient and thoroughly explains all options. He is happy to answer any questions and really takes the times to listen to his patients. I’ve had several procedures on both knees prior to the knee replacement, so I have trust that I would experience the very best care with Dr. Burns.

This past Monday, I got the ‘all clear’ after 3 months since my surgery! I am so happy to have my life back again! I am a retired teacher and like to keep very active. Yesterday, I had my first day back as a part-time substitute teacher. I got though the day better than I anticipated and am so grateful to be able to get back to my everyday activities!

The staff at Midwest Orthopedics is very professional and always returned my calls in a timely manner. Anna was very helpful in scheduling my surgery and explaining everything I should expect prior to and post-surgery. Susan checked in with me regularly after my surgery to discuss my progress with physical therapy and make sure my pain levels were manageable. It is comforting knowing that the staff really care about the patients.

In the future, I will need a knee replacement for my other knee. I am 100% confident in Dr. Burns’ knowledge and skills as a surgeon and a person who truly cares about his patient’s well-being.

In June of 2020 I had knee surgery performed by Dr. Burns. The recovery over the past four months has been steady and very good. He provided excellent direction on proper recovery and getting back on my feet.
I just tested it during a 16 day, 3700 mile, 8 state photography trip to the northwest. Camping out in the wilderness for four nights and spending several days on ranches keeping up with Cowboys put the knee to a real test. I'm very pleased to report the knee held up well. Got tired a few times but I did fine. Can't thank Dr. Burns and his team enough. They got me back on track to getting back out there on my photo journey.
