Well-maintained Historic Site.We learned quite a bit about Ulysses Grant and the Dent family. Our grandson completed his Junior Ranger activity and earned the badge.Park ranger Kyle was excellent in assisting him and very informative. Our grandson left saying that he wants to be a park ranger when he gets older.
Shoutout to Ranger Kyle. His tour was amazing. My family learned a lot, and my kids were entertained the whole time. I knew very little about President Grant and his family until this visit, but I left with lots of new information. Way more to this visit then I anticipated. The front desk check in staff was so kind and helpful too, especially to my kids (such a plus and helpful for my family of six). Highly recommend this place!
Fascinating national park presenting excellent exhibits about the life of President Grant. In addition I highly recommend the walking tour presented by the rangers. Their knowledge is impressive. Every question my group asked resulted in a solid answer from our ranger. Nice gift shop with unique items.
It really is a nice historic site. I've been there probably 20-30 times and it's never been super busy. In fact, there have been days when my family were the only ones there. It's got a ton of great information and I joke that I could have given the tour when I was a kid because I visited so often. It's the first historic site I can remember visiting and it got me hooked on history. It's a great trip, and as an added bonus, Grant's Farm is right across the street, I recommend making a day out of it and going to both!
Very interesting tour, the ranger did a good job. The slave quarters in the kitchen and especially the items that have been excavated from the room are sober but also a glimpse into the lives of people often forgotten. My children said this was compelling.
