Great place to stop, have a picnic, and stretch on you Route 66 adventure!
The visitors center is a must see and is packed with information and history of both Times Beach (the former town that occupied the space where the park is today) and the Missouri stretch of the route. The staff were very friendly and happy to answer all of our questions and recommend stops along our journey.
You have to be ready to get off the highway real quick to find this place. I remember when Times Beach closed down you used to be able to see the houses from the highway.
Nice little place to stop on our way to Branson. We had lunch at one of the picnic tables and explored a bit. Bathrooms were very clean.
I'm all about the visitors center at each park. I try to visit a new park every month and I always go to the visitors center first. It can make or break my hikes. Route 66 did not disappoint. Friendly staff, clean facilities, and a great little "Route 66" exhibit. There are also some interesting Times Beach, MO items. Another gem in the MO state parks system. The trails are not particularly great for hiking, but it's still a nice park and is great for a walk/jog with friends. Biking or Rollerblading out here is great too.
