We did a 4.5 mile hike. Mild climbing with just a couple of handholds. Some nice petroglyphs, wonderful geological formations and spectacular views, before a descent back down to the main trail.
Edit a year later (and after I moved to the Cascades...): back to 5 stars as they have finally moved this back to SW Henderson (and not Red Rock). Great place, great petroglyphs, great for trail running, mountain biking (trails that go into the Wilderness are a no go—but you have a great single track that goes over to Black Canyon), and hiking.
Below is left for posterity (or if Google moves this to the wrong place (west Las Vegas) again. ????
.............................
The location that the Google Maps Team moved this site to is 34.2 miles away from the actual location of the "Sloan Canyon Visitor Contact Station". It isn't in Red Rock... I attempted to get them to move it BACK to the correct locale 3 separate times with them declining to each time.
So original 5 star review deleted (because it is no longer correct) and this in its place.
If you want the actual Sloan Canyon Visitor Contact Station, put in Nawghaw Poa Rd, Henderson, NV into your map search and it will take you right there. Nice facility and great trails. But where Google continues to list it? Useless.

Friends of Sloan Canyon is looking for volunteers to help man Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area's visitor contact station. As a BLM Information Specialist you would be introducing visitors to the geology, plants, wildlife, and cultural resources of Sloan Canyon.
