I had a pickup stolen a couple of weeks ago. I called in and reported it, and they sent an officer to investigate and report. The next day a detective called and got more information; both were polite, to the point, and thorough, getting a good picture of what happened.
Now, I was starting to come down with the flu, and made several mistakes - for example, I found the truck and drove it home. But I should instead have left it alone and called the PD; it was a crime scene, after all. What was nice was that everyone just calmly dealt with the situation. Policemen here in Las Vegas are noticeably friendlier than where I came from, and those guys weren't bad.
