  My father had just passed away and left me his Toyota Tacoma. I had spent the weekend before attending the memorial and spreading his ashes. So not a great weekend. I was driving the truck home to Boise from Phoenix when it broke down in Las Vegas around 1 PM. The Crank shaft pulley had become disconnected from the crankshaft. Needless to say not good at all. I called a tow truck company and they referred me to Amigos Auto Repair. Amigos is the shop where they take all of their tow trucks to be worked on. Mario was quick to get the hood up and start work on getting an assessment of the damage. He did this even though there must have been another 6 or more vehicles they were working on. He informed me it was going to be a bit before he knew more as he needed to take the radiator out to get the pulley fully disconnected. Something about an air hammer. I went and got a bite to eat and around 4:30 got back to the shop. Turns out the key had broken and honestly I could not tell you what that means, but he told me it was going to be at least until tomorrow. And as of yet he did not know the extent of the damage to the crank shaft itself. The next day he kept me informed and said it should be ready by 1:00. I spent the morning investigating Auto transport companies as well as U-haul as options to get me and the truck home to Boise. Options which ranged in the neighborhood of $800. Sure enough they were finished at 1 PM. So I headed back to Amigos Auto Repair. Mario informed me that he had it back together and there was indeed some damage to the crank shaft and it should be replace within year. I then asked Mario if I should drive it home or go the U-haul route. He said it would be no problem to drive it home. To which I responded as his daughter worked there, “would you let your daughter drive it from Vegas to Boise?” He said he would, and said it with confidence. Needless to say driving across the desert was a bit nerve wracking, but he was true to his word and it made it home without issue. Mario got me back on the road 24 hours later and better yet got me home. If I lived in Las Vegas Mario and his employee’s at Amigos Auto Repair would be getting all of my business. They were top notch. Ohh… and the repairs cost less then the U-haul would have. If you live in Las Vegas take your vehicles to Mario at Amigos Auto Repair.
