“This is the trail for Fletcher Peak and Mt. Charleston’s South Loop. If you’re aiming for Charleston’s summit but are scared of heights, this route has fewer cliff edges and becomes accessible earlier in the year. Though some places may have snow as late as July. After 4 miles you will walk within the tree graveyard from 2013’s Fire. Haunting beautiful is the best way to describe it. However even at 2 miles in you get a couple scenic overviews of Kyle Canyon. There are many sights to see and reasons to choose this trail. There is overflow parking (but is still usually full by 9 a.m. in the summer) and the restrooms have plumbing and are not just a hole in the ground.”

“It's a crowded tourist spot, but honestly it was exactly what I was expecting and I loved it. The staff were nice except for one (I suspect she was stressed due to a wedding party being there). The Fish and Chips were really good and the friends I had with me thought their burgers were great. One of them got an Elk burger which he said was good. The view is great and let's be honest, there's something fun about an old school mountain restaurant, bumps, old paint and all. I'd absolutely go back again if I am ever in the area.”

“A nice place to dip your toes in the river, launch your kayak, or take a hike. There is also a paved lot with an overview up above. Got a car you dont mind beating on or a 4x4? Head up the river wash and loop around the other side. Some fun stuff to explore. Grab a map at the ghost town before you head in. The folks there drew a map with points of interest in the river washes.”
