“I had the pleasure of visiting the Matakas Jiu Jitsu Academy while in the area for a wedding and had a great experience. Professor Matakas is very kind and welcoming and his academy has lots of spaces to sit for watching the classes along with three restrooms for changing if you come directly from work. The warmup is thorough and a solid workout in its own right that will make sure you are ready for class without pulling a muscle or getting injured. The class was structured beginning with a self defense takedown followed by successive guard sweeps and passes and lastly the submissions. The details of each technique are very thorough and by the end of the instruction we had a complete flow that allowed us to chain the techniques together and build effective muscle memory. At this academy you will get expert instruction in a clean, family friendly environment that places student safety above all else. I highly recommend Matakas Jiu Jitsu Academy for adults and children alike!”
