“Last November I was introduced to Rose Payne, and during our conversation she asked me what I was drinking and without hesitation I responded, coffee. As we all know most of us don't just drink our coffee black. So the real question here was what was I adding to my coffee. The real answer (like most) was cream and sweet-n-low. I told Rose that my daily consumption of coffee was a must, in order to get through my day and she told me I didn't need to give up coffee but tweak what I put in my coffee. This resulted in me substituting my artificial sweetener for sugar. I always thought I was helping my diet by using the artificial sweetener, but in fact, Rose informed me that I was making my body crave more sweet things by not using a natural sweetener. It didn't take long until my tongue adjusted to the hint of natural sweetness in my coffee compared to the now overwhelming taste of any artificial sweetener. With her advice I gradually changed the way I look at food and drinks. I cut out diet soda and began drinking real soda and I noticed my cravings for any carbonated products decreasing substantially and I found myself drinking more water. Similar to a drug addiction, I was addicted to food, and Rose was able (in just a few words) to retrain my brain to look at food as fuel for my body versus a way to escape my feelings. Since my conversation with Rose in November I was able to shed 30 pounds with just a few small words! Sure I exercised here and there, but what I do know from being on any diet is that it is 80% food in take and 20% exercise.
