I would suggest calling ahead, as Amy and her team are actively working to improve the building for the future, and may have changes to the day's tour hours. Amy's energy is infectious and it was a pleasure spending time with her.

Lovingly cared for by the Morris County Historical Society, Acorn Hall is a treat for history buffs and those who love Victorian beauty. We were given an excellent tour by Nicole, the Curator of Exhibitions and Research. The breadth and depth of her knowledge and presentation was truly delightful. The grounds and gardens are also beautiful.

(Morris County Historical Society at Acorn Hall 973-267-3465) In Butler, a monument of a fantasy kind awaits the Skylands visitor. The six-foot "Wooden Fireman" found a new role among New Jersey citizens when Butler firemen rescued the statue from a junkyard in 1909 after it was ousted from a Newark insurance company.
