  It's a great place to go. My daughter learns so much there. She is an orange belt and she is going for her first stripe. She tells me it is always fun and she likes working on the katas. She is proud to be an orange belt. She wants to go for her black belt here, too. She is proud to train at this school. I believe it is a great place for her to learn self defense. That's why I give this 5 stars.

  I love this school and my dojo family too. If you prefer a school that focuses on true traditional karate, welcome home! I've been here for 9 years and counting. Sensei is always willing to help and only wants his students to achieve their goals.

  By far, the best dojo I have trained at. Sensei Porta's qualifications and experience are extremely rare commodities in the martial arts. He has a wealth of knowledge that a dedicated student can learn from, if he/she is willing to put in the time and effort to learn traditional karate.

  I have been a part of the Academy for over 40 years. They offer superb and authentic Okinawan Karate instruction, which is found no where else on the East Coast. The atmosphere is professional, safe and family oriented. The longevity of the students is a reflection, of the excellence of the Academy.

  Porta's Karate is an excellent school where students are treated as family. For over 50 years it has an excellent 5 Star review rating by all. The teaching has helped thousands in local communities and the instructor honored by many local officials. Unfortunately someone for personal reasons would post an unfair rating. We continue to pray for her.
