“Linda Hanlon has been the insurance agent for my small business and personal insurance since 2012. That means this review is 6 years late. My previous agent (who came with the business I purchased in 1990) and I never spoke. He had a pleasant capable office staff, which is why I stayed with him for so long. When he closed his agency he didn't offer to help his long term clients find a new agent. This proved to be a blessing because that's why I came upon the Hanlon Insurance Agency. From the new client interview Linda Hanlon has made a point of keeping in touch by email, a newsletter than is informative, and periodic personal calls when a policy is up for review. What I notice about these calls is that she has already done a thorough coverage review before she makes them. Since 2012 these calls feel like I'm talking to an old friend. Periodically Linda counsels me that she has found a company that's a better fit for us. Because she has become my “trusted advisor” I never have to “think it over”. Most recently the value of that single service was made quite clear when a pipe burst and damaged our kitchen. An independent claims adjuster was at our house within a few hours of our call to Linda. He noted that the edge of our linoleum floor looked like asbestos. Per New Jersey regulations, in order to move forward with the repair, we would have to replace the linoleum that we'd been walking on for 25 years. The adjuster did not recognize the name of our insurer, but he did list a number of companies that he knew would not cover the replacement of the floor. Most of the companies were household brands. As it turned out our little insurance company – the one Linda had switched us to – covered everything without the delays and other speed bumps that I hear other people talk about. Over our lifetimes we all spend a lot of money on insurance premiums. As I see it we can trust this investment to Flo or a lizard or a movie star, who will never tell us what coverage we're sacrificing to save a couple of dollars. Alternatively we might have an agent whose main criterion is commission amount. Our third option is to break a little sweat in search of someone like Linda Hanlon.”
