  A great visit any time of year. Wear waterproof footwear. Bring a camera.

  Perfect place to see fall colors by shepherd lake. I will be back to explore even more. You also see spectacular fall colors on the way to the park too. There are benches And barbeque stands near the lake so that you can have a small picnic. It's not too crowded although I saw few cars in the parking lot.

  Nice place to hike. Lots of diverse plants and animals. Botanical Garden is very nice.

  Very nice arboretum scenery. This is a pretty place if you are not a hiker, but they have some nice hiking trails too, which we hiked. You can also have a wedding or a large party at this state park. 5 dollars for parking might sound band, but it's worth it, so we can keep this park beautiful!

  Lovely to walk through, but poorly marked trails. And it would be nice if they had identifying markers for more than a few plants. The architecture was more identified than the growth. Still beautiful though.

Yes, there are grills by almost all picnic benches We have never used them but I've seen others doing so The park is Carry In/Carry Out (i.e. no trash cans) so I am unsure how you deal with the hot coals or any other rules so it wouldn't hurt to check with the park before you go: (973) 962-7031
