  Vlad is a great teacher and a great leader. He really helps you understand why you would do a particular move or escape in certain situations. He helped me with my weaknesses especially in the grappling portion of MMA. Vlad is also knowledgeable in weight and exercise training, as he is also helping me prepare for Basic training for the United States Air Force. One of the best instructors I have ever met and a respectable man as well.

  Training with Vlad at Koulikov Grappling Academy was such a great decision. I couldn’t be happier with the instruction and comraderie at this academy. Vlad is an amazing instructor and a wealth of knowledge when it comes to combat sports/arts. Anyone interested in Grappling of any type should check this place out!

  One of the hardest things to find in a coach is someone who not only has deep expertise but is also a natural teacher. Vlad's ability to fluently describe, assimilate, teach and demonstrate techniques from sambo, BJJ, and judo is exceptional. He has a mastery of the nomenclature and the rulesets that makes it easy for him to field questions and adapt techniques from one discipline to another - the kind of deep technical mastery that comes from decades of experience. I first met Vlad at a seminar in Detroit and was impressed at the ease with which he got even the least capable people in the room safely performing unfamiliar takedowns. Vlad is funny, never condescending, always professional and always interested in helping people who are trying to improve. If you live in the greater NYC area it’s absolutely worth it to make the trip to train with him.
