Schmalz makes superb products, and if you have not tried one of their sausages make sure you do when you get the chance.

(December 21, 2016, 2:05 am)Walking into the refrigerated room of fresh made products is like taking a trip to Eastern Europe. The fabulous cool air filled (make sure you dress warm for this refrigerated shop) with the pleasant smoked meat inviting smells welcomes you back in time to when there were Butcher shops like this in every town. From racks filled with delicacies like liverwursts, headcheese, bologna, krakowska, kabanosy, frankfurters of several variety, knockwurst, bratwurst and on and on. The butcher case is filled with several varieties of predominantly pork and with some other meats ready to be hand cut by the butcher. Also, the coup de gras, for which I enjoy most, is the variety of KIELBASA! Perhaps some of the finest anywhere, not only America, but the world! The hams smoked on premise is also of the finest quality and taste. If you had to choose two products, the ham and kielbasa are definitely well worth the trip to this shop. The majority of products are produced on site and a good variety of European products are available as well such as sauerkraut, canned delicacies, mustards, horseradishes, pickled products. If you are of Eastern European descent and wish to return to the flavors of your parents and grandparents you will not be disappointed. For those uninitiated, one trip here and you will want to put 'ski' at the end of your name. Just a note, much like old time shops, cash is the only form of payment accepted. You will be pleasantly surprised by the prices as well.
