Amazing team. They build children's character, holistically. They genuinely care. They have created a wonderful atmosphere of love, care, strength, and resilience. Highly recommend!
One of the things that makes a metropolis worth living is access to high level of knowledge and experiences. Aikido of Park Slope is one of these embodiments.
Lehrman Sensei is the chief instructor and has practiced and taught for 50 years. He is one of Yamada Sensei's most senior students. A wonderful place to practice Aikido for all ages and experience levels.
Our family is pretty picky (especially, my husband, who was involved with Martial Art himself and had high standards and demands). The kids were still quite young-6 and 4 years old. But after the first class we began to see the amazing value of the classes at Aikido of Park Slope. I can’t rave enough about the skilled, able, professional, patient and kind aikido instructors at the Dojo (which is beautiful : vast, stylish, clean). They are not only skilled aikido masters themselves, but attentive, humorous, intelligent teachers. I could say they help my husband and I to bring up the kids:) And besides teaching aikido (moves, terminology, public exams, seminars, etc.), the kids play fun physical and mental games, they also learn about interaction with each other, patience and respect. The atmosphere is friendly and fun, but disciplined. Today my kids (13 and 11 years old) are learning the responsibility of being older students -Dojo etiquette requires older students to help the younger, to set an example ( a great tool to build self-respect!). They have been promoted to the level, which allows them to take adult classes. Overall, studying at Akido of Park Slope made them better people (IMHO).
A wonderful place to practice. Strong graceful teachers, amiable cooperative student. Safe training environment. If you ever wanted to learn Aikido, the Way of Harmony, or rather the art of not-fighting. This is the place!
