I am 70 and diabetic. It was time to get my eyes checked out. My Doctor recommended Dr Irina Pankova. Now I am fully American. But over the years I have come to deeply respect Russian Doctors because of their skills. I went there not knowing what to expect. I googled the place and the pic from a distance looked like New York Chocolate Institute. When I got there I figured the office was on the second floor and I did not pay much attention to the big sign. On the second floor I was told that it was the big office on the first floor. I entered through the two big doors as instructed and the receptionist greeted me. When I finally got up the nerve to ask where the chocolate was, they were seriously puzzled. After going outside to verify that I had not stepped into a chocolate institute, I discovered that the sign red Glaucoma Institute. However to help an aging man they offered me a piece of Milka Chocolate. I was a good candidate for them.

The office is clean and very professional. The receptionists were very helpful and I was taken in within 15 minutes. Upon entry you discover a long light blue hallway with lots of doors. I was whisked into a room where the initial tests began. They have all the machines to test you and the information gathered was immediately pushed to your electronic record. The staff was really kind to me as I have mobility issues. One test you have to push a button when you see a spot and it makes a beep. That was very hard for me because I don't do video games. On a second round of the test there was another person in the room taking the same test so with the double beeping I was pretty stressed. I really had to focus. After several tests I met the first Doctor, Alex Zeldin who was young and wore his residency coat even though he was a full doctor. Dr Alex was a really good doctor. He was kind and gentle and treated me with respect. They all speak russian so from time to time I had to remind them that I only spoke English (kind of funny). After a few more tests and another session with Dr Alex, I was ready to see Dr Pankova. I had now been there for about 2 hours with no wasted time. She came in and spent some time examining the records and then gave my bright blue Irish eyes another look.

In the end, my eyes were doing fine and she gave some good eye health recommendations and wanted me to be on a 6 month schedule. This was an amazing experience from beginning to end. This office makes it easy for your to want to go back again and keep your eyes in good shape.

Thanks so much Dr. Alex and Dr Irina and all the staff. Beautiful Job.

This is very good place, i have brought my dad here, Dr. Joseph R. Podhorzer is best, and has worked tirelessly with my dad as he has with all other his patients,
my dad had bleeding in his eyes due to uncontrolled diabetes, so doctor tried a lot of different approaches to stop it, he tried first with meds only, follow by laser and as last resort injections, we are very happy blood has stopped, whole staff is nice they do a wonderful job, i always recommend him to everyone who needs it, you will never regret it,
Doctor is very soft spoken and takes his work seriously
