  My son showed an interest for chess while in elementary school so as a parent I wanted to encourage his interest outside of the school curriculum. I did my research and located NY Chess and Games, we signed him up and he loved it. The owner and staff are always very professional and accommodating. Mr. Christian makes the game fun and exciting for the kids, he's also very humorous always keeps me laughing. If you're looking for your child or even yourself this is the place, there is a variety of packages to choose from!!!

  New York Chess and Games is place to be. When my daughter was younger she always wanted to play with the life-sized chess set that was displayed outside. Always pulling me to go inside the store. Fast forward to now, I decided to purchase 8 sessions for her to learn to play not knowing if she would like it or not. SHE LOVES IT SO MUCH SHE IS ASKING TO ATTEND and that is huge especially for my tween. Mr. Christian and his staff are so welcoming you feel at ease knowing you can drop your kids off and come back when the session is over or wait around and learn from a distance. His approach to teaching is fun for the kids, his jokes are funny and he is very patient. He is an amazing teacher to say the least. My daughter's skill set has grown tremendously and also her love for chess. If you are looking to learn chess for yourself or your children look no further.

  My son has attended day camp here, signing up again for Spring Break and for summer camp. He came home very excited to share all the new moves he learned and wanted to go back the next day. There is a balance throughout the day of chess and play, which worked well for us. Highly recommended!!!

  Purchased multi package number of instructor-led chess games with Mr. Christian’s shop. He and his staff are very professional and also reliable. Pleasant to deal with and quite reliable. In my short experience I have only had positive interactions with New York Chess and Games. Highly recommended.
