“I had my Bar Mitzvah here back in 1986. Really beautiful Synagogue, but we mostly did it to please my grandparents, since they were Orthodox (I was just waiting for the big reception party with friends and family back at our house following the ceremony). I also attended high school nearby at Edward R. Murrow, so I always would pass by EMJC on my way to and from school. I got a scholarship from them for going to Israel the summer after I graduated from Murrow, and also for when I went off to college.”

“This is one of the most active, energetic, open temples in the nation, and one of the best Chabads even. The people who come are diverse and totally friendly. Nobody expects you to be "religious", and nobody pushes anything on you (Except great whiskey during the Fri. night and Saturday afternoon celebrations!) If you're looking to explore the Brighton Beach Jewish community but feel nervous about new situations, this is definitely the place to come to.”
