  Great for trail running with variety of surfaces such as sandy, grassy. It's mostly flat but has a few small hills and plenty of dirt roads. I love running around all the lakes.

  Great place to relax and exercise. It's family friendly and you can bring your dog. There's a place for BBQ, tennis, and children's games. Parking is also available which is great.

  Has a family get together and loved it. Field 1 is right by the playground and carousel and bathrooms. They also have a nice room to rent if needed next to the carousel. Kept clean by park workers. Nice to stroll along the trail and see nature up close.

  There are many things to do in Hempstead Lake State Park. I went here for birding watching (which is best around the South Pond). But, there are plenty of other things to do. There are tennis courts, picnic areas, an old-fashioned wooden carousel, playgrounds, basketball courts, and fishing).

  Today, my daughter and I walked around the lake. We parked by McDonald Pond, walk passed people picnicking and fishing and accessed the trail near where we drove into the park - off Peninsula Blvd. It's a nice walk in the woods. You can stay on the paved path or do as we did, walk on the dirt path so you can take a "side trip" off to the water.
