  Wow! Exceeded our expectations. Janet makes everything so easy along with her horses! Truly wonderful. The trails are so beautiful and the horses handle them so well. I am a first time rider and felt extremely comfortable. I am very happy to meet Janet and have the ability to spend time with her horses. My husband and I recommended 100%. We will definitely do again! Thank you Janet!

  As a horse lover I have to say the best barn I’ve been to in NYC area! The horses are healthy and well taken care of. Highly recommending to everyone who likes to ride the trails. My horse definitely matched my personality and it was very fun to rid with her ❤️

  Had a wonderful experience at big river barn, took my 8 year old daughter and her friend to visit the horses where they got to ride, brush and feed them. They were so gentle and sweet. Janet was great and helped make this an incredible experience we plan on visiting again!

  Ok, let's address the financials: NO, let's not! Take that thought and throw it far away. Are you looking for a peaceful, beautiful, clean, personable and professional place to ride a horse? This is it. But you know what? Not only will you learn how to get on/off, navigate and ride, you'll also learn the unique personality of each horse and will make a friend!
  3 of us went in as beginners, 1 of us was real nervous, I mean pale nervous. We ended up not wanting to leave! Each of us bonded with our horses. And the pale one? Became one with the horse as if born on him.
  We had the pleasure of working with Janet and Robert. Great time and safety is priority here. We were properly equipped and our rides were thoroughly checked and tweaked to individual needs. They know exactly how to match you with your horse, by size and personality.
  Horses are majestic and it is here that you will truly experience it! So bring a happy excited vibe [and some carrots/apples😄] and have a fun, safe ride!
  Shout out to our new friends Cayalle, Prima Dahna and 'my beauty' Frenchie as well as the beautiful waiting room!

  We had a fantastic time at Big River Barn Rescue! Janet did a great job matching up horses to people. There was a brief individual tutorial and then a great trail ride through the nature preserve. Our guide, Melissa was awesome, informative and patient (also a great photographer!).
  My daughter and I have ridden at a few places in the Queens & Long Island area and the horses here were so much more well trained compared to the other places we've been. You could tell that everyone working with them really understands and knows them.
  The rates may seem a little high but you 100% get what you pay for. We will definitely be returning...highly recommend this place.
