The early masterpiece of New York's Master Builder Robert Moses, it provides an example of his big-picture genius free of the controversy that would ensue in his later career when big picture began to clash with little picture in places already occupied, unlike this barrier island. Jones Beach was a gift to New Yorkers and all who visit, and remains a statement that nothing is too big for New York. Some of the facilities are no longer used to their original capacity and specification, and are well passed their prime. But trust me, you will not look so good as you approach 90.

(November 16, 2018, 2:45 pm)Jones Beach is one of the crown jewels of Long Island. We have world class beaches here and Jones Beach is one of them. Nice boardwalk with shops and restaurants and quick bites also! They stage great events here and have the Jones Beach theater for great concerts. Great place to spend a day in the summer and any other time of the year as well.

(November 3, 2018, 8:35 pm)Beautiful beach with great sand for playing in. Unfortunately I have only been the one evening in October. So we didn't get to enjoy the water or summer fun, and can't comment in how busy it crowded it gets. However the sunset was stunning, and we enjoyed watching the waves break and collecting shells.

(September 5, 2018, 8:49 am)I like this beach but it is so packed with people in summer. We usually come in after dinner at around 7 when the crowds have thinned down and take a nice stroll on the boardwalk which is a 4 mile walk. They have added new game areas so it can be a fun way to spend time. Prices are pretty decent. They usually have music shows during weekends in summer and they are free. Basically Jones beach is a nice place to hangout in summer provided one is not looking for some quiet time.

(August 21, 2018, 10:40 am)Jones Beach offers so much for everyone. Plenty of room on the sand to lay down and spend all day. Great New concession buildings. There are games, mini golf, basketball courts. I like to use the bike path from cedar Creek Park to get to the beach. There are free love bands playing at the band shell, and headlining groups at Nikon Theater. I always have a great time when I go!
