Friedman's at Columbia

We arrived for a late dinner and found the place about half full at 8pm. There was 1 waiter, a really friendly, efficient and funny guy with red hair and a beard who took our order and effortlessly kept up with 6 or 7 tables. He noticed when we needed refills on drinks and got them before we asked. One of us had sticky hands and laughed about it getting on their fork and he swooped by a few minutes later with a replacement. Needless to say service was terrific. The menu has a nice small selection of things but all we ordered was done really well. I had a grain bowl with tofu, we also had sesame wings and avocado toast. Everything was delicious and the price is pretty good for a NY eatery in Manhattan. Cool atmosphere. Great place for a nice dinner out or to take a date. Highly recommend.

Friedman's on Amsterdam Avenue is a great place for lunch. The menu is not too big, but with a good selection of tasty dishes. Their burgers are generous. Specially recomended is their veggie sandwich with avocado and a lot of other good stuff. It might be crowded during their busiest hours. Very nice and able people working there.

I personally like this place a lot and I that is why I keep going back. I wish it was slightly cheaper or offer some lunch specials but overall I am satisfied. I love that they have a lot of gluten free options and that the quality of the food is pretty good. Recommend!
