This gallery opened down the street from where I grew up and as an artist myself I really wanted to check it out. I walked in to a group of young adults painting and being creative together, which was such a wonderful thing to see on the upper west side. Everyone inside was extremely welcoming to myself and my parents. The art is beautiful, and the aura is perfect.
The bright graphic paintings hanging in this gallery caught my eye as I was walking up Amsterdam Avenue one night, so I decided to stop in. I ended up chatting for a long time with a couple of the young artists who work there—and also use it as a space to create their own work. They were charming and bright and bursting with creative energy! It was truly a lovely, unexpected experience.
This has to be one of the best gallery spaces on the UWS, maybe even in all of Manhattan! I walked in last week and was greeted by two awesome employees, Sophie was the girls name, and I believe Max was the other worker. Many gallery spaces have an elitist vibe, but not this place! The two artist residents were so welcoming&funny and made me want to stop by again. Not to mention the style of art available is super unique-- truly one of a kind!! I will definitely be purchasing a piece the next time I go in.
I was walking by Pearce and noticed the diverse display of pottery that was in the window. When I walked in I was warmly greeted by a worker, Sophie, who educated me all about the pottery and the artist that created them. Not only was she able to talk about the differences in the pieces, but was able to provide me with places that taught pottery in the area. While we were discussing, another co-worker, Max, joined in on our conversation about the art. I had never been to the gallery but was pleasantly shocked with how wonderful not only the employees were, but the art as well. Although the art on display was out of my price range, the pottery was very nicely priced and I will be going back to purchase some! I've included a picture of one of the pieces that I was interested in
