A beautiful area of Central Park. Easy to find from the 72 street subway stop. Walk around strawberry fields and take a photo of the memorial. Stunning tribute to an iconic artist gone too soon. The Dakota entrance where Lennon was assassinated is just across the street from the 72 st metro stop.
Central Park in NY was interesting. Watching people laying on John Lennons memorial to take pictures was very funny. The best part was watching the homeless guy sit in the midst of them smoking weed from a pipe. Everyone maneuvered around him like nothing unusual. Gotta love NY!
The Imagine Mosaic is one of the world’s most renowned and revered mosaic and an iconic homage to one of the greatest singer and musician of all time.
Located in Central Park of New York City and designed by a team of artists from the Italian city of Naples, the Imagine Mosaic is a living memorial to John Lennon, one of the greatest artists of the 20th Century and is named after his 1971 hit song, “Imagine.”
In July of 2022, I brought myself and my wife to view the mosaic for our first time and upon seeing it up and close, we both found it to beautiful and a fitting tribute to Lennon.
It was touching to see that flowers were placed on the mosaic and that folks from different walks of life were there to observe and reflect on this great work of art.
When visiting NY, my wife and I definitely recommend that you take a moment to visit and view this highly celebrated memorial to John Lennon.
I had seen photos of this mosaic, but have never had taken the time to find it in Central Park. During out list trip to NYC I realized I wasn’t near John Lennon’s apartment and googled the location of the mosaic. It was great to see it in person, and it actually wasn’t crowded. If you believe in the concept of Imagine, you need go see this place.
Great memorial and essential stop in NYC for any Beatles/John Lennon fan. It has a very serene and respectful atmosphere in the park, and there was even a Beatles tribute band at the memorial singing songs with everyone around joining in. Very special place amidst the busy city and worth the stop.
