It was our first stay at the Leo House and will definitely come back!
1) Location is perfect, in Manhattan (Chelsea), the high line is up the street 5 mn walk, and Penn Station is 15 mn walk. You can reach Time Square by foot along the High Line in 30 mn
2) it's clean, quiet, beds are comfy staff is super nice and friendly. And it's safe.
3) Breakfast included M to Sat -
I stayed with my mom, we had a room with 2 single beds and our own 'half bathroom' (a sink and toilet). The bathtub was just a door down. Water pressure and was quite warm if needed.
A+ option - highly recommend! And the price is good for a Manhattan option.
Merci to the staff!!!
They also keep your luggage, should you arrive early, or leave NYC later in the day. It's in a locked room and free.
Although it is an old building and still a Catholic guest house, everything has been fine so far. We slept there for a week. It's not for light sleepers as you can hear the street, but there are earplugs. There is a toilet and a washbasin with a mirror in the room. For showering you have to share a bathroom with other guests, but it can be locked. The breakfast is good for the price. The coffee tastes good, there are freshly scrambled eggs and as much juice as you want. The best part was that we could do our laundry in the basement so we didn't have to drive to a laundry center on the next block. The staff is manned by friendly, hard-working black employees at the front desk. An elderly black lady said to my friend that he ate the whole breakfast and that's why his belly is so fat, we took it with humor but were still shocked. The hotel clearly lives from its location, there is also a subway station just around the corner.
The stay was above our expectations! The room was clean, breakfast was good and the location was amazing. The only problem was the check-in. All staff were friendly, except the older women with grey hair. She spoke to us as if we would break down the place, made fun of our language used, and kept us repeating everything she said as if we were stupid. We didn’t feel welcome at all. Please don’t put this lady at the front desk. It’s bad for the guesthouse.
What a lovely little gem right in the heart of NYC! This is my third stay at The Leo House and I plan on returning during my next trip to the states. Coming from the land down under is a very LONG and tiring journey so it helps to be greeted by smiling faces. Tommy, Amber, Natalia, and Joseph were all wonderful and made my trip with their excellent service and friendliness. It's a shame to see that Stephany no longer works here, she was great! (Rare to see an American show so much love to Australia, thanks!!!)
Kudos to housekeeping for keeping the rooms spotless and to the kitchen for providing a spectacular breakfast! Hope to see this place again soon.
