Suffering from cervical foraminal stenosis with severe pain and loss of movement in my left arm, I underwent surgery for decompression of root nerves from C4 thru C7 at Weil Cornell. The experience and results were extraordinary. I was treated and cared for by surgeon Dr Roger Hartl and his team. The surgery process went smoothly and I felt extremely cared for at all times. I felt I was being treated at one of the best hospitals, by an amazing surgeon and by a impressive supporting group of medical professionals - and now I have the results to prove it! Immediate relief from the daily pain and returned strength to my left arm. Life changing!

    A review from a physician:

I had the unfortunate situation of finding myself with a neck injury that required surgery in order for me to preserve my right arm functionality.

I visited a couple of experts in the field and four Ivy League institutions. After my extensive research, here is what I learned: NY Hospital Cornell is ranked on the second best hospital in neurosurgery in USA. Their surgeons are among the top 50 neurosurgeons in the country.

I incurred a cervical disc herniation at level C6-7 compressing the nerve root. The surgery was completed and I felt relief from the moment I opened my eyes in the recovery room. I was home the same day.

I was fortunate to have my post-op therapy with Tracy at their rehab facilities. All issues were addressed. Today, every morning when I wake up I remember each member of this team that helped me get better. After all, your health is priceless. I can now continue working while enjoying my life.

Same luck for my injury prone brother who couldn’t walk due to a herniated disc in his lumbar spine. The surgery was done and the very same day he went home walking.
Last month my brother fell down the stairs and suffered a brain injury. I pretty much begged 911 EMS to take him to Cornell.
My brother was seen by a battery of experts and was rushed to the Operating Room for emergency brain surgery. That surgery saved his life.

It was a critical situation but I never for a minute doubted the outcome. This is the way that these dedicated people make you feel and for me it is just priceless.

I thank the ER, neurology, trauma and neurosurgery team for their excellence.
For my entire family I particularly want to thank Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Wheeler. The neurosurgical ICU (amazing top notch facility) team specially RN Irina who went above and beyond to make us feel at home.

At this point I have no words to thank Dr.
Roger Hartl, an amazingly dedicated surgeon that has made the major difference in my family three times now. He has “fixed” two of us and his sole concern was just for us to feel better. Isn’t that what we all want...

One a side note, I’m aware that not only the NY Giants team but also the FDNY looks to Dr Hartl’s surgical skills in times of crisis. After the now infamous “Black Sunday” fire, one of the firefighters who jumped from the 4th floor of a Bronx building was rushed to Dr Hartl with only his spinal cord attaching his head to his body. Dr Hartl and his team performed the surgery. This firefighter is now walking.

I humbly hope that my personal experiences and story help some of you that are in similar circumstances. Certainly I sleep better knowing that if something happens to me or my family I know the place to go!!
