Good hike
Some decent scrambles and view isnt bad for a place so close to the city
About an hour trek up to the tower, with a couple of small drink breaks. The trail is easy to follow with good markers, some steep ascents and a rewarding view.
Strenuous but beautiful hike. It’s a 1000 ft ascent to Perkins memorial tower for breathtaking views of the valley. You may also spot Manhattan skyline from there. My favorite trail at Bear Mountain.
Beautiful location to enjoy the fall scenery on a cool clear Autumn Day. The views are so fine. It is recommended that you take the time to look in all the directions and identify the lower mountains of the Appalachian chain. Not the tallest of the mountains in New Your but very accessible for a day trip from New York City. You will then realize what a beautiful state you live in. After the hike up the trail, please take a walk all the way around the Hessian Lake. It is a beautiful lake and fun to go off the trail and enjoy the sound of the falling leaves.
