Super quick but great hike with super veiws
North and South Redoubt are well marked. Views are beautiful. Yellow trail is not well marked.
The North Redoubt trail is a moderate hike. There are no scenic views when the foliage is in full bloom throughout the summer and early fall.
Nevertheless the grounds are rich with native northeastern wildflowers, ferns, and wildlife.
Midway through the trail forks out to South Redoubt Trail.
Cardiowise you will get a solid workout. Photographywise you will end up with great images.
A mostly undeveloped preserve of nearly 6,000 acres, Hudson Highlands State Park consists of a series of separate parcels of land stretching from Annsville Creek in Peekskill, north to Dennings Point in Beacon. The spacious park is perfect for outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, hiking, and birding.
The North Redoubt Trail [red; 0.3 miles] is a fairly steep short climb to a lookout and the ruins of Continental Army fortifications. The Osborn Loop [blue; 3.4 miles] combines with the Appalachian to make a ring trail through the middle of the southern section.
