I LOVE THIS LITTLE SHOP!! It is a Queens staple. Large selection of middle eastern products. The freshest, best smelling and best tasting coffee you can buy, roasted and ground fresh per order. Everyone working there is very friendly and helpful. They also make their own pickles, pickled turnips and several other pickled items which are always spectacular! Support local businesses and do your shopping here you will love it!
My name is Edna Hillel, I have been shopping at Carmel's for many many years, too many to mention..Driving all the way from Katonah in Westchester county to shop for mt favorite Israeli food..
It is a wonderful store, the service is impeccable and the store made salads are fabulous..
This store is a great example as to how far hard working immigrant can go!!!
I absolutely love it and cannot wait for my next trip.
Best place to shop for Middle Eastern as well as Kosher food. I shop here with confidence regarding variety, freshness of goods, reasonable prices and cleanliness of the place. I highly recommend.
The most authentic and delicious Middle Eastern destination on the East Coast. From the pillowy fresh pita bread to the velvety hummus and all the delicacies in between -- you need to visit this place! Owner is so genial and lovely. Took me back to childhood in Beirut!
Carmel takes me back to the city of old when I grew up. It is a small locally run store full of middle eastern Israeli foods. Everything homemade is fresh and delicious. The dried nuts, fruits and spices are the best (I get a pound of mixed nuts and half pound of pecans Everytime I go).
Now for the best part, the coffee. They roast their own coffee and they take pride in it and it shows. The coffee is some of the best you will find in New York. I highly suggest the mocha Java or the French roast.
Step back in time.
Very busy on Fridays. The neighborhood is great to walk and shop in. Metered parking on street, alternate side parking on side streets. MAKE SURE YOU READ AND UNDERSTAND PARKING SIGNS BEFORE LEAVING YOUR CAR. PAY YOUR METER. NEW YORK CITY IS RUTHLESS WITH THEIR PARKING TICKETS.
2. ISRAEL Carmel Grocery, 64-27 108th St, Forest Hills, NY 11375, (718) 897-9296 A local friend tells me that this market/coffee roaster was one of the first to sell Israeli foods in Forest Hills. I'm not sure about that, but I do love their homemade dips, especially the hummus, white bean dip, and tabouleh.
