This is a historical place, date back to civil war era. It has a nice playground for kids. It has baseball fields and lots of paths that you can walk or jog. The visitor center is located deep in the park, it takes a few minutes of walking to reach there. Inside there are a lot of historical photos of the fort and also a lot of specimens that you can touch. There is also a play area for small kids with boardgames, puzzles and books for all ages. Next to the visitor center there is a tunnel connect to the unfinished fort. You can ask for guided tour or you can walk there by yourself.

Staff here was friendly, informative and helpful. You can enter the battery through the tunnel next to here. Check the schedule before you come. They are not open every day. You can also enter the battery through the steel fence door beside the waterfront. But you’d better check with the staff here before you go to make sure it is open to public and the time the door will be closed. Some people who entered without notice had been locked inside before as I heard.
