  We visited this museum as part of the NYS Canal Conference. So we were bused here and if I was driving, parking looks to be a fright. It's in a very congested area. Right next door is the Staten Island Ferry, so take that across if you wish to visit. The museum is very nice. The location was part of the lighthouse service, and all supplies for all the light houses went through this facility. There were holding tanks for the lamp oil, blacksmith shops and other buildings, all meant to turn out the needed components to keep the lighthouses lit. The current building is quite small, but plans are in place to move the museum to a much larger building next door. There is a fantastic collection of lighthouse models, showing all the structures used. Be aware, there is no lighthouse here, just the history of lighthouses.

  If you love lighthouses this is a must see. There is lots of great exhibits on lighthouse history and how they work. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Its right next to the Staten Island Ferry so its easy to get to. More work is being done on the museum site which was one the nation's largest lighthouse depot. All of the historic buildings on the site are being rebuilt. Looking forward to returning when the museum moves to the building next to it in a few years.

  Yay, New York City has this wonderful National Lighthouse museum! We went on one of their harbor tours, which we really enjoyed. They are right next to the ferry depot when you arrive in Staten Island -- literally like a five minute walk. So worth it! If you love nautical stuff, history and especially lighthouses, you've gotta get there. If you're going to take the Ferry anyway, why not walk over the few blocks and visit it? You'll be glad you did.

  This is a very small museum. The main stand with little lighthouses from different states and countries is the highlight, we loved! They give you a short tour at the front, then you walk around and mostly read posters with facts. The staff is very nice! They set up a table with kids craft. Overall nice place that is great to stop by if you are doing something else on Staten Island.

  Sweet, little museum on the shore of Staten Island. Might be tricky to find now as there are many construction sites all around. The staff was extremely engaging and gave cool insights into the area and lighthouses. The collection is rather small but the building they are located is a temporary location. Visit should not last longer than an hour. Still definitely worth visiting. Entry price is very affordable.
