A most excellent manner in which to test hormesis. Just don't get too much dose or you'll grow an extra leg. It's a fine line.
I find the activation products to be a little too esoteric, but then again, as an HP with 30+ years of experience, only others will get these references.
Convenient location with a great view. Though, I don't recommend the isotopes. Inconsistent hours but nothing to have a meltdown over.
Super cool place!! Great asset for research in the area, Schenectady NEEDS science and engineering to remain competitive
This is my favorite nuclear reactor!
Found out recently that RPI operates this Nuclear Reactor for research right here in Schenectady. How cool! What I thought was some utility substation or something turns out to be the Walthousen Reactor Critical Facility, which is a fully functional Nuclear Facility with a reactor (a small one), which RPI students train with.
Crazy that they are building all these apartments and hotels/restaurants and Rivers Casino right next door. Would be pretty neat if one could take a tour (I'm a nerd) and see how it all works while staying at the casino.
I did some research on this place and some people want to shut it down. I think it should remain here. Schenectady has a history of technological innovation and continuing that tradition with this reactor fits perfectly into the city's history and future.
Keep on sciencing!
