Beautiful property along the Hudson! Unfortunately there were no tours the day we visited but the grounds are still open for exploring and there is a lovely trail that winds down along the river that you can walk. It was a cold November day when we visited and the wind coming off the river was intense so we didnt go to far down. Would recommend stopping on a warmer day.
Absolutely great tour. So many amazing artifacts and the fact that almost all of the previous owners collection of books, paintings, furniture are in tact and such great condition is unheard of. I would love to get a list of Jay Gould's personal library catalog since the books are there and would be a very interesting read. Seeing the Mansion in October was so much fun!
Very nice place to stroll around with family. Lots of hills for little ones to run around. We didn't take the tour. Paid $5 per person just to walk on the grounds. Beautiful place.
Plenty to see. Amazing how wealthy some people were from utilities at the time. Plenty of information, tour guide recommended! Well maintained. Most interesting were the dining room and entrance hall.
It is definitely a wonderful place to walk around or go for jog. The staff that has the tours is very knowledgeable and the mansion is quite charming with some great history without it being glorified with riches. The tour doesn't take longer than 45min to an Hour but the grounds have enough on it to entertain you for a day. It is encouraged to explore and find your way around the grounds. The mansion is preserved. I would say that it might be fun to read about the previous owners to see their contributions to society.
