So go back to 2013. I just moved to Mount Vernon. Just down the block was CrossFit Gotham. It was my first time at anything like a CrossFit box. Mike and his trainers were nothing but professional and informative. I felt comfortable enough to give it a shot. Now I want to explain who I am a little bit. I’m short, overweight and my athletic days are long past. But I will say that CrossFit Gotham was a really welcoming place and I never felt like I was patronized or treated badly. In fact they were great and went out of their way to make me feel like I belonged. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Sadly, I injured myself and only lasted a short while before I had to step aside. I’ll be honest I still miss it.
I have to give them massive props. They are professional, knowledgeable and they work hard to make sure you get good value for your money. It’s taking me many many years to write this review, but I want to make sure that I go on record as saying that this was a really good experience.
My first experience at crossfit, and the journey begins. Had a great workout at Gotham with Mike and the crossfit team. Learned new ways training techniques. This place is addicting. Super clean, super friendly, super professional.
Love my box! CrossFit is mostly a no frills kind of sport. So, Gotham is a no frills kind of place. Nothing luxurious about it, but the people are great, the workouts are delightfully torturous and the coaches know what they're doing. Take that back on the frills. We love our Concept 2 row, ski, AND bike ergs (boom!). I've been to a number of places and only a couple have more than rowers. Most people accept a tough commute for work. Since I don't have that, I am happy for my tough commute to be back and forth to the gym. Totally worth it!
First week at CrossFit Gotham - staff is friendly and knowledgable. Worked with Moe who is super motivating and Mike who knowledgable and encouraging.
Trainers have complete control over the class, emphasis is on safety.
Facility is large, well organized, and clean.
Very important - the community is OUTSTANDING!! Fellow CrossFitters cheer each other on, teach one another, don't leave until everyone finishes the WOD.
So glad to have found such a safe and positive workout environment (that of course pushes you to your limits and leaves you feeling sore days after your workout)!
