So informational about this time in out history.
We took the the architectural tour given at 11am. Sorry I don't remember the gentleman's name. His tour run longer but were so interesting and informative. Lasted about hour and fourty minutes.
Just wish it wasn't so hot that day . Most of us couldn't handle the heat. 93 degrees and felt like 108 that day.
So make sure to start early if you can . Many people only stayed a few hours that day.
Very well cared for park. Plenty of educational materials posted around the grounds. It was fun to see active archeological activities still occurring. The Park Ranger talk was very informative and engaging. It wasn't overly crowded even on a holiday weekend. Definitely recommend a visit.
It was incredible to see the area first colonized in the USA. The day was perfect, weather-wise, and there was so much to see. The best part was the gentleman native American explaining how he was making an arrowhead in the traditional way. He showed and explained the tools he was using and how he was using them. He even explained the action to flake off pieces of stone to shape and sharpen it.
You enter through the main building and purchase tickets. They give you a sticker to wear as proof you paid. It's dog friendly and there is a gift shop/ post office inside. After passing through the building you walk across a long walking bridge. The tall obelisk is the first thing you see, then just beyond it is the church and you walk into the original Jamestown settlement. Beyond it is the building with artifacts.
There are plenty of benches to sit and rest while you watch the ferries go by. It was cool with the breeze coming off the water.
Historic Jamestown and related museums was a great place to get down with some history. The staff and associates were all very friendly and the restrooms were super tidy. I would definitely visit again and I recommend touring this location during the spring or fall seasons when it’s more comfortable outside. The attraction offers an immersive experience both indoor and outdoor.
So awe-inspiring. To see where a nation first began is a piece of history you cannot replace. The interpreters are amazing and full of so much information. To think that the first English settlers also walked around here is thought-provoking. Well kept and rebuilt pieces of history.
Very professional
