I have been attending Westchester Krav Maga for the last several months, and I have absolutely loved it. The instructor is incredibly knowledgeable and professional, and he also has a great sense of humor.
I have learned something very practical with every single class (e.g. punches, defenses against being choked or grabbed, etc). It has also helped me get back into shape.
I postponed coming to my first class initially because I wanted to get back in shape first after a busy stretch of work, but when I eventually went, I realized the key is just to show up. No matter where you are in terms of fitness or experience, you will learn very practical skills, be active, and feel more positive coming out of the class.
I have trained Martial Arts for over 30 years and I have known and trained Krav Maga alongside Sensei Vlad for the last 13 years. I have met many great Martial Artists, and many great teachers of Martial Arts. Sensei Vlad is the rare breed of being both. I recommended a fellow Karate practitioner to train Krav Maga with Vlad and she absolutely loves it and I was amazed at her self defense improvement after only a few months. Sensei Vlad is also great with kids, perfectly blending the balance of fun and serious learning; and targeting and working with each kid's individual abilities.
Love this karate class!! It has started teaching out kids discipline and structure. They follow all them moves and warm ups. It's great exercise and teaches coordination. My kids are 4 and 5...they come home and repeat the moves while saying the Japanese phrases. Sometimes if they are in a bad mood, I remind them about karate and they start jumping up and down saying the phrases while doing the moves.
They also get belts and stripes as they progress, which motivates them to come back and do more classes. My favorite part is when they do the moves with the partners. Our 4 year old girl get partnered up with a kid her size usually and our 5 year olsld son with someone his size. We do a ton of fun activities for our kids...including yoga, dance, soccer. This is one of our kids favorite.
We brought our five-year old daughter here based on the reviews we had read - and are amazed by the dedication, professionalism and warmth of the owners. Vladimir and Rachel are committed to education and serving the community. Our daughter LOVES the classes and I love their approach to martial arts. I highly recommend this for place for anyone wanting to learn martial arts. I am so grateful to have found this place - it really is special.
I have been studying with Sensei Vladimir for a while now and I highly recommend this school. I was looking to learn Krav Maga as it seemed to be a very practical martial art for self-defense and to get hands on experience sparring. I also didn't want to go to a school where you just go through the motions and become a black belt. I wanted to feel that I truly made progress and earned my belts though effort and hard training. I definitely get that here. The curriculum here is very organized and there's a lot of structure in the syllabus. I've gained a lot of confidence and every class is a great learning experience!
