“I highly recommend Dr. Saju Matthew of Hudson River Orthodontics. My daughter had a really challenging set of teeth when the permanent teeth started coming out, as well as a jaw that was too narrow to accommodate a whole set of teeth. She was referred to Dr. Matthew by her dentist, Dr. Jed Best and Dr. Jerry Ashrafi when she was 7 years as they both felt we should not delay. The crowding was so intense (three permanent teeth in her gums, positioned one on top of the other) that Dr. Mathew was not sure and told me privately that at a later stage he may have to remove permanent teeth to straighten her teeth out…he said that he hoped with his treatment the jaw would expand, but there were no guarantees. He was glad that I had come early. The way he described it to me…just like the center of the head in a new born baby’s skull is not fully sealed until they are around two, similarly, the cartilage of the jaw and palate are soft and can be stretched a bit until around 10-11 years. Long story short…the process of expanding her jaw and palate and then straightening her teeth took many years and was an involved process with Dr. Matthew doing an amazing job as well as preparing my daughter for the different stages so she could take the steps he needed her to on a daily basis. She also did not need to loose any of her permanent teeth during the process. I cannot describe how challenging a feat Dr. Matthew achieved with her. Today, seven years down the line at age 14, she has a beautiful set of teeth and is in the last stages of her treatment where she uses a retainer every night to ensure that her teeth stay in place. I highly in recommend Dr. Matthew as he is a gifted orthodontist and has a great bedside manner with the kids. He is reasonable and timely with his appointments. After I started my daughter’s treatment with him, I found other kids from my daughter’s school also went to him and were extremely satisfied.”

“Dr. Maestro and his staff are fabulous. I was in the area visiting my family from another state. A temporary crown fell out and my mother (who sees Dr. Maestro) suggested I call him. Not only did he and he staff schedule me that day, but they worked with me for 40 minutes for no charge. I was astounded. In addition, it was the most welcoming and warm medical experience I’ve ever had. What a wonderful dentist office! If I could regularly use Dr. Maestro, I certainly would!”

“I used to hate going to the dentist. Not because I fear pain, but because each time I went I would receive a lengthy lecture about brushing and flossing -- with the subtext that I wasn't doing it enough/properly -- and I'd walk out feeling like crap. As much as I tried, I'd be criticized. Finally, I have found a dental group that doesn't make me dread every visit. As a matter of fact, I enjoy the visit. They compliment me on the care I take, and the dentist even goes so far as to say that my previous dental work is excellent. (Yes, I had lots of cavities as a small child. As the fillings deteriorated, I had caps to replace them. I've spent thousands ensuring that I keep my teeth -- and even went so far as to have braces as an adult when my teeth began to shift.) What my husband also noticed about this dental group is that they don't push you to have unnecessary procedures. In our previous city, they were always trying to add things that either weren't needed ($2000 to "tighten" my gums). This dentist tells you what you may need in the future, but assures you that it isn't necessary now. Thus, I will be able to trust him completely when he finally says, "We ought to do it now." If you dread your dentist because you're tired of being chastised even when you know you're doing everything you should, this is the place for you. They're honest, do a great job cleaning your teeth, and you walk out feeling very happy about the entire experience.”
