“My soon to be 87 yr old aunt moved to Blocher Homes last May after having lived independently her entire adult life. Obviously,no one likes to gives up their independence,but Blocher proved to be the perfect solution. My aunt is very happy there and has made the adjustment with ease. I have never seen a facility that caters to the assisted living as nice as Blocher. The individual rooms are spacious,there is always some kind of activity going on,and many friendships have been made. The staff is wonderful. It is not just like a home,it is a home,and I enjoy my twice weekly visits. Why Beechwood feels the need to close Blocher is very vague to me. There are plenty of people in their so-called “golden years” who are not ready for skilled nursing,yet need a little assist to maintain a modicum of Independence. If Blocher Homes was properly marketed,I am sure there would be so many interested people,there would be a waiting list. I think Beechwood is deliberately sabotaging Blocher by creating a situation to lose money so it can justify selling Blocher and moving its residents way out to Beechwood and get rid of union employees at the same time. And Beechwood is supposed to be a faith-based organization. More like a bad faith operation.”
