“I went to the Erie Blvd location in Schenectady. They only stock electrical supplies, which is why I go there. Service is good, you will pay a little more, but the selection and quality of the merchandise can't be beat. When I need something that the big box stores don't carry, I go here, walk in, and get what I want. The entrance is on the right hand side of the building as you face it and they have a dedicated customer parking lot there. I've been shopping there since the mid seventies. And I'll definitely go back.”

“We had an amazing time!! First things first, as novice glass people, be prepared to go back to get your piece or possibly pay for shipping!! Nate was very responsive over email with questions beforehand. Studio was very clean, great air flow, great lighting, handicap friendly. All that said, it is small, but the perfect size. Glass making gets hot!!! I Recommend earlier in the day. Also recommend sneakers but I don't know if it's required. Sunglasses are a must. No seating or public bathrooms, but if you have kids they may be accommodating. The website is very good too. Nate was so calm, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. The class lasted about an hour for two people making individual ornaments. My 11-year-old and 8-year-old had an amazing time making ornaments. Was extremely hands-on. Great for a gift for, experience. Also many wonderful pieces for sale. Glass is not an inexpensive art. Seeing and learning how it works really, really helps you appreciate the cost of the craftsmanship. Wonderful part of the day trip. Part of a trip to Shaker museum or an overnight in the Berkshires. Just remember to go back and get your pieces!!”

While fixable, he said I could get a fully refurbished one from the store for the same price. “We bought a historic one of a kind schoolhouse with good bones but no finish. The previous owner left an ambitious project half done-coffered ceilings in two classrooms. Calvin, Kevin, and crew were willing to use the materials we had on site and source the rest, which saved us some money. They didn’t just match the ceiling we already had, they vastly improved the design and durability. They also repaired badly done plaster and drywall, repaired busted up wainscoting, put in insulation when possible, and came up with an elegant solution for damage from an old radiator installation gone wrong. His painter, Broc, works hard, is flexible, and listens to suggestions. Because of the unique lighting situation I could only see spots that were missed in the late afternoon sun, but Broc and Calvin didn’t hesitate to come back and take care of it until I was satisfied. All his employees are gracious, highly skilled, and have a commendable work ethic. Sometimes it’s awkward to have strangers in your space day after day, but it was a pleasure to have them in our home. Now the room is absolutely breathtaking. Anyone who enters or sees the photos cannot stop talking about how amazing it is. They tell me I did a great job and I always correct them. It’s our contractor. We hired Calvin again to work on the (enormous) exterior this summer. Calvin Thomas has a good feel for historical buildings, the eye of an artist and the knowledge of a master craftsman. His goal is to be the best contractor you’ll ever hire. So when you receive your estimate from Thomas Construction, remember you get what you pay for. We paid for the best, I can’t imagine a better result, and this beautiful room will outlive us all.”
