This is our favorite place to camp. Electric and water hookups. Dump station isn't too far from the camp sites. Bathrooms are cleaned daily. Great for fishing, swimming, sun bathing, hiking, bike riding, even saw someone on their one wheel zooming around. It is the perfect blend of nature and city. It's 20 minutes to the nearest Target/restaurants so if you forget something, it's not too much of a hassle. We try to stay here every other month because it's the perfect place to decompress and reset. A HUGE bonus is that there is no breed restrictions so my pups can come. We found an area that we could swim(water's really gross for my liking) and teach him to swim. I can't express just how much I love coming here. Groot does too. Lol.
This is one of a favorite local campsites. Sure, some of the sites need a little updating/maintenance but we can usually find a great waterfront site when we want to enjoy the lake.
We enjoyed our stay at Poplar Point, although my spouse is unlikely to go again in mid summer. Our site (C46) was mostly shady and relatively flat so setup was easy. Some sites had a pretty serious slope so online reservations seem like a bit of a crapshoot. Our site was almost waterfront. The true waterfront sites were all occupied (and likely hard to get). I would return but probably not in August!
Very nice camp ground. They have places to swim with life jackets available. They have some great fishing. My son caught a nice 2 lbs bass off the dock. There is 4 lanes to put your water sports equipment into the water. It's a great place to take the family for camping. The only thing I didn't like was you can only stay 14 days then you have to leave for 17 days. So if your working over the road and need a long term sire this is not for you but the place is nice to just stay at for the 14 days.
