Dr Klifto is an amazing physician and an even better person. I was dealing with chronic elbow pain for over 2 years and I thought I was going to have to deal with it for the rest of my life. When I scheduled with Dr. Klifto, he greeted me with a warm smile and asked me questions about my health, but also my life in general and truly seemed to care, instead of trying to rush me in and out. He laid out a plan for me and scheduled a surgery for my elbow within the next 2 months. After surgery, my nerve pain was relieved. Whenever I had an issue, he always was there to give me affirmation and assist me with any questions or worries I had along my recovery. He possesses an excellent bedside manner and is very easy to talk to and makes you feel comfortable. It’s almost like talking to a member of your family or a friend. When I saw him a year after my surgery, he remembered me and was ecstatic when he walked through the door, asking me questions about college and other things in my life. He truly cares about not only his patients health, but their overall lives. I would recommend Dr. Klifto to anyone who is looking for a amazing orthopedic surgeon who will be with you every step of the way.
On behalf of Mr. Robert Beaty (who doesn't have a Google account but who is desirous of leaving a review based on his overwhelmingly positive experience):
I've been roping steer competitively (and for fun) for over 40 years, and you can imagine the abuse my roping arm's shoulder joint has endured.
My shoulder joint was so damaged, that for 1.5 years, I was unable to lift up a jug of milk (let alone rope a steer).
When I presented these symptoms to my orthopaedic surgeon, he recommended a reverse total shoulder replacement (TSR), which is invasive and temporarily debilitating. However, a fellow roper had a similar condition and told me that the doctors at Duke treated him with a much less invasive procedure, called superior capsule reconstruction.
I called Duke for a second opinion and had a consult with Dr. Klifto. He was personable from the beginning, explaining the procedure and following up with me in-person. The procedure went off without a hitch, and the recovery was unexpectedly quick and painless. Within days, I was off all prescribed and OTC pain medications; the physical therapist was moving my shoulder with ZERO pain in the same week as the surgery; at six weeks I was able to raise my arm over my head (very unexpected for me at this point). It seems like this surgery has remedied my condition without all the hassle of a reverse TSR...BUT a major benefit is that even if this procedure were not to be successful, I'm not precluded from having the reverse TSR.
In short, Dr. Klifto is at the cutting edge of reconstructive shoulder surgery. He gave me a procedure that was potentially much less invasive, less painful, and less restrictive than the alternative. I'd highly recommend him to anyone with any shoulder problems.
My wife, Betty Jean Young, is a very satisfied patient of Dr. Klifto. He solved her problem of finger pain. She would gladly return to him, recommend him to others, and would send this note herself if she used the computer and had an account in her name. She has dictated this to me.
I broke my wrist while traveling abroad and had to return home for surgery. Dr. Klifto worked me into his busy schedule, and he has been fantastic every step of the way. Six months later, there is little evidence of surgery. The scar is practically invisible, and range of motion and strength are excellent. In addition to being a skilled surgeon, he is a genuinely nice guy and has been reassuring and encouraging throughout. Highly recommend!
Dr. Klifto, Just a note to say thank you so much for the wonderful care I received after my hand surgery. Apart from being a qualified MD, you have lots of patience and caring attitude. Thank you for your tremendous skill in performing my operation on my hand. The counseling I received from you before undergoing the surgery, was crucial in my speedy recovery. I wish that every DR. would strive to be as caring and generous as you. Thank you for being the best DR. for me
