I must say when Joe Cho playlist was amazing which definitely set the tone during our visit. This was my first time there. We had donuts and coffee the highlight for me was the fresh doughnuts! I will rank the flavors we had.
1. Blueberry
2. Lemon glaze
3. Maple
4. Apple Cider
5. Coffee glaze (this one was good just didn’t have a coffee flavor)
All were delicious made on site/to order (for my educated folks) fresh hot moist. They were more like cake batter dough I thoroughly enjoyed them and ordered more after having two. Super nice getaway if you in Raleigh Greensboro Cary Chapel Hill area! The ambience was super homey perfect place for a cold rainy day. Overall service was great. Shot out to Joe Cho!!!
Dough-Joe's Doughnuts in Winston-Salem was a surprise hit for me. The place is much bigger inside than I thought and has lots of seating spread throughout with outside sitting as well. Staff was courteous and helpful. Place offers all kinds of ready-made desserts like cookies, but the star by far are the fresh made doughnuts. I got three to try, and they were excellently flavored that as I only wanted to try them all, I ended up eating two while sitting there. The dough is not too dense, and being as warm as they were was just fantastic. Worth the stop for sure!
Some of the best donuts I've ever had. They were very warm and freshly prepared. Also the donuts were fairly priced, and considering how good they were, it's a great deal! The nice and cozy vibe inside also adds to the experience, and there a nice Christmas tree inside Overall amazing donut shop.
I've been here several times now and really love this spot! I definitely appreciate they are a nut free facility, but I personally would love nut options - peanut butter and chocolate is one of my favorite combinations. But other than that, everything here is delicious, great vibe/atmosphere, still a wide variety of offerings and the coffees/lattes are delicious. A little pricier, but worth it to support small and local, and it's just a great place to eat, drink, and catch up with friends. Its location in Reynolda Village, next to a lot of other great shops (Bookhouse, Monkees, etc) ,restaurants (Penny Path, Village Tavern), and the gardens is perfect.
WOWWWWWW!!!!!! Never in my life have I so thoroughly enjoyed the food I bought at a bakery!! Every other time I go somewhere and buy something that looks good but is sorely disappointing - NOT HERE!
Dough-Joe's clearly puts so much care and effort not only into making their food fresh and delicious, but also into perfecting the atmosphere of their café area! It's in a great location (be sure to give yourself time to explore the whole shopping area down there! It's SO COOL), the whole store is beautifully put together and looks so comfortable, and they had up a TON of decorations for the season and holidays!
Now, the food? Well, I just came for the donuts, but I was also tempted by their beautiful scones and biscuits! What I bought:
Cinnamon Sugar donut (top left)
Apple Cider donut (top right)
Maple Glaze donut (middle left)
Caramel Glaze donut (middle right)
Coffee Glaze donut (bottom left)
Plain Glaze donut (bottom right)
They made all of the donuts fresh and brought them out hot! I honestly ONLY expected to like the cinnamon, maple, and caramel donuts, but even the coffee donut is so good! I don't even like coffee! You can tell which ones are my favorites by how much of each donut I've already devoured 😂 The only reason I've spared the cinnamon so far is because the others also have cinnamon sugar and I can already tell I'll love it.
I also got a Buttermilk Biscuit (top left), Chive & Mozzarella Scone (top right), Fall Spice Scone (middle), Sourdough Choco Chip Cookie Cake (bottom left), and some kind of citrusy muffin (bottom right). They all just looked SOOOO good, so I took a chance on them and was so pleasantly surprised that their flavor lives up to the appearance! Also, all of these baked goods were so soft, fluffy, tender, and FRESH!! To be fair, I bought them at 9am, but I didn't think they would all be so soft and almost warm! Really just SO good.
I've already eaten half the biscuit, part of the chive scone (YUM!! definitely buy one, or a few of these!!) and sampled the spice scone (which actually has a mix of holiday spices that deliver a pleasant little kick) and cookie (which was way better than I expected!!).
All in all, this place really blew my expectations right out of the water. The donuts are delicious, light, and fluffy, and everything else is good enough to make me actually want to eat it instead of just passing it off to somebody else. I'm so excited to come back some time and see what else I can try!! THANK YOU DOUGH-JOES!!! 💞
