Chronic pain, hypothyroidism, migraines, obese, allergy sufferer and no energy are the words that described me just 5 short months ago. Now, thanks to Dr. Roach and his staff, I am 66 lbs lighter, migraines have went from being almost daily to just 3 in the past 3 months, and overall pain has decreased tremendously and my energy level has soared! Several months before I actually called Carolina’s Thyroid Institute I had been praying for help, knowing that I needed some help for my whole body not just treating individual symptoms (I have been trying that approach for years and continually getting worse) I came across their website and was skeptical. I continued to pray about it and kept thinking about CTI. I finally called and began my journey with them. I was concerned about the long distance thing but they made that very easy with phone calls, emails, text and mail. It doesn’t matter where you live, they can help.
I was an extremely active teen and young adult until a car accident stopped me In my tracks. Over the next 22 years, chronic pain set in, numerous surgeries (including Thyroid removal), 4 children and chronic migraines became my existence. Now, after working with Dr. Roach for 5 months I am losing weight, exercising again, riding horses again, and swimming more. Five months ago, if I got 3000 steps in that was a good day, now I get 11,000- 12,000 steps without really trying. I feel great and my allergies have almost disappeared! Thank you Dr. Roach, Sherry and the rest of the staff you are truly an answer to prayer!

I have hypothyroidism. Prior to seeing Dr. Roach, I had gained 30 pounds in the previous 6 months, I had no energy, and struggled to just make it through the day. My labs were in the normal ranges but I didn't feel normal. I suffered pain daily in my lower back and right knee and felt as though my 82 year old mother-in-law was getting around better than I was. Having hypothyroidism is no fun. Now, after just two short months, I am pain free, have lots of energy and feel like I have my life back. Dr. Roach and his staff are life savers ! I live in Cary, NC and though I have not met any of them in person, they seem like family. I was a little nervous about the telehealth type approach to health care, but working with Dr. Roach and his staff is easy and convenient.

I am writing this review in hopes it will inspire others, just as a previous reviewer inspired me, to embark on a journey towards better health. After months of experiencing vast outbreaks of hives and angioedema (chronic urticaria from unknown etiology) I was officially diagnosed with autoimmune thyroid disorder in November 2016. My primary care physician referred me to an endocrinologist where they began treating the condition with synthetic thyroid medication. I was told there is no cure but the hope is to lessen the stress on my thyroid with addition of thyroid hormone. In addition, I had begun to eliminate gluten from my diet. Within 6 months, my T4 and TSH labs were “perfect”- yet the urticaria continued. They referred me back to my PCP to manage my symptoms with steroidal medications. I also knew that my energy level had dwindled significantly; my fear was I eventually wouldn’t be able to continue with my day to day responsibilities- including work and my hobbies! My mother suffered with Crohn’s disease for 50 years- and on prednisone for the majority of that time. My mother never stopped looking for answers; I New I had to do the same. I searched for knowledge from FB and internet support groups, comprised of people who were or had experienced many of my symptoms. I stumbled upon something called Functional Medicine; the concept piqued my interest so I looked for a practitioner near my area. It was through this search that I found Dr. Steven B. Roach and read a review by one of his current patients. I reached out to this woman via private Facebook message; totally out of my comfort zone! What I found in this women was more than a friend; she, too, had traveled my journey. She gave me hope and courage to make an appointment with Dr. Roach.

I began my journey with Dr. Roach on September 27, 2017. Since then, I’ve had more energy and desire to do things than I’ve had in years. Depression is GONE- no more underlying feeling of despair. Despite being on antidepressants for 40 yrs, an underlying sense of sadness remained steadfast. For the first time, those feelings are gone. I am not where I want to be but I am so much better than where I was and my journey continues!

I freely write this review without compensation from Dr. Roach or anyone affiliated with his practice or functional medicine. I am simply paying forward my experience in hopes I will inspire others, just as the previous reviewer inspired me.

I highly recommend Dr. Roach. He has helped me tremendously with my hypothyroidism, adreanal fatigue and hormonal imbalance. When 4 former doctors couldn't or wouldn't get to the root of my issues Dr. Roach did with much success ! 40 lbs down and new found energy! He is very knowledgeable and explains everything in detail. I live in P.A. and all of my consultations have been via phone and computer and I still have been able to get a successful treatment regimen to get my life back!

Dr. Roach helped me regain my health and energy. When I met Dr. Roach I had blood sugar issues and a thyroid problem. I was overweight, depressed and had low energy.
After following Dr. Roach’s treatment plan I lost 40 lbs, was no longer diabetic and had so much energy. I have an autoimmune disease and had been going to an Endocrinologist for years; I was never told that I should not be eating gluten. Dr. Roach and his staff taught me so much about healthy eating. He is so knowledgeable about treating his patients without chemicals. His office staff is professional and yet they feel like my friends. I can email Dr. Roach with a question and he is always there for me. I have never gotten that type of service from any other doctor. I tried several doctors in the Charleston area but was not satisfied. I was not told the comprehensive plan up front. I highly recommend Dr. Roach so much so that I drove 4 hours for our appointments. Best thing I ever did for my health! When I went for my checkup with my Internist, she actually told me I was getting younger.
Even my hair and nails were healthier.
